Double incision (total incision)

What is a double incision (total incision)?

Incisional double-lid surgery is applied when the thickness of the eyelid, hardness of the skin, or stretched skin makes it difficult to create a lasting double-lid shape using only the implantation method.

The most important feature of the incisional double-lid surgery is its high designability, which makes it possible to achieve the ideal double-lid line. The durability of the double eyelid is also very high compared to the implantation method, and the double eyelid can be maintained over a long period of time.

Characteristics of double incision (total incision)

A total incision refers to the entire skin incision from the inside to the outside of the eyelid to create a double eyelid. This incision makes it possible to remove sagging skin from the eyelid. The main advantage is that the extensive skin incision allows for a variety of adjustments, such as the depth of the double fold and eye opening.

A common concern with incisions is still the possibility of surgical scarring. In order to minimize surgical scarring, incisional techniques are used to align the scar with the double fold. Since a fine line exists in the natural double fold of the eyelid, when performed properly, the surgical scar will not be particularly noticeable when the eyes are closed.

Risks and Side Effects

There are various risks and side effects associated with double incisions (total incisions). First, there is the risk of infection, which requires proper postoperative care to prevent. There is also the possibility of scarring at the surgical site, which is usually less noticeable over time, but individual differences exist.

It is possible that the shape of the eyelid may become asymmetrical after surgery. This may require additional corrective surgery. In addition, abnormal sensations in the eyelids may occur after surgery, but these are usually temporary.

Dry eyes and abnormal tear production are also possible. Allergic reactions to the anesthetic or other drugs used are also possible.
