hyaluronic acid injection

What is hyaluronic acid injection procedure?

Hyaluronic acid treatment is the filling of wrinkles and grooves in the skin and increasing the volume of certain areas of the body (mainly the face). Hyaluronic acid is a substance that originally exists in the human body, so it has the role of moisturizing the skin and tissues. However, its quantity naturally decreases with age.

Hyaluronic acid procedures can maintain the health and beauty of the skin by injecting this hyaluronic acid directly into specific areas under the skin. It can also be used to improve facial wrinkles, cheek volume and facial contours, as well as address problems such as thinning of the lips.

This hyaluronic acid injection procedure is a very popular cosmetic medical procedure. The reason for this is that it is considered to have little downtime (recovery period after the procedure), allowing patients to quickly return to their daily activities after the procedure. Another reason for its popularity is that the procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and is easily performed.

However, even hyaluronic acid injections, which are readily available, carry risks. Swelling, pain, redness, and hardening at the injection site may occur. It is also important to remember that the injected hyaluronic acid is broken down naturally in the body, so the effect is temporary and will inevitably require regular treatments.

List of concerns

  • Thinning of the temples.
  • I'm concerned about the mossy look on my cheeks.
  • Engraved wrinkles.
  • Blurred facial lines.
  • Sagging cheeks
  • I don't want to have an unnatural hyaluronic acid face.

Types of Hyaluronic Acid

At Aladdin Aesthetic Clinic, we use multiple types of hyaluronic acid according to the purpose of the procedure and the area to be treated. Below are the characteristics of each type of hyaluronic acid.

Jubiderm Ultra (Jubiterm series)

First, the JUVIDERM series is manufactured by Allergan and is the first hyaluronic acid in Japan to be approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and is world-renowned. JUVIDERM ULTRA is suitable for correction of fine to severe facial wrinkles and furrows, especially around the mouth and at the corners of the mouth. It is also commonly used for lip treatments.

Jubiderm Voluma (Jubiterm series)

One of the Jubiderm series, it is used especially for deep volume correction. It is effective in increasing volume in the cheeks and temples and reducing cheek puckering.

Jubiderm Volift (Jubiterm series)

One of the Jubiderm series, it is used to fill in deep wrinkles and furrows in the forehead and laugh lines. It is also used to improve contour lines and make the face smoother.

Jubiderm Volbella (Jubiterm series)

One of the Jubiderm series, it is used primarily for lip augmentation and correction of wrinkles and furrows around the mouth. It is also used to improve depressions and dark circles around the eyes.

Jubiderm Borax (Jubiterm series)

It is part of the JUVIDERM series and is the strongest, hardest, and most elastic hyaluronic acid in the series. It is therefore an excellent hyaluronic acid for facial line contouring and for the chin and nose.

Restyrenolide ((Restylane series)

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid produced by the Swedish-headquartered Galderma. Restylane Lido is particularly well suited for correcting hollows and fine lines under the eyes.

Restylane Lift Lido (Restylane series)

One of the Restylane series, it is used to increase cheek volume and fill in wrinkles and furrows by injecting into a deeper skin layer than Restylane Lide above.

Pinehacon Tor/Ultra

This hyaluronic acid is suitable for contouring the cheeks and chin and correcting deep wrinkles. It is also suitable for increasing lip volume and filling in moderate wrinkles and furrows.

Hyaluronic Acid Effects

Hyaluronic acid injections can tighten and rejuvenate the skin, as well as bring out its firmness and luster.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body and helps maintain skin elasticity and moisture. However, with age, its production declines and skin becomes drier as a result, with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid injections reverse these effects, resulting in more youthful, smoother skin.

In addition, hyaluronic acid injections usually take only a few minutes to a few dozen minutes to complete the procedure, allowing patients to return to their daily lives without major disruption.

Hyaluronic Acid Side Effects

In some people, the injection site may appear swollen, red, sore, bruised, hardened, or unnatural looking.

Some redness at the injection site may occur during hyaluronic acid injection treatment, but most people will not notice it on the same day.

On the day of treatment, there may be a slight sensation of tightness in the skin, but this will diminish over time. In addition, there may be some internal bleeding, but this will become less noticeable over time.

However, if you experience strong discomfort or abnormality, it is recommended that you consult your physician.

Flow of treatment

(1) Counseling

First, a thorough consultation is conducted. Here, we will discuss the patient's hopes and concerns in detail. Once a treatment plan has been determined, a thorough explanation of the risks, expected results, and costs will be provided.

(2) Examination and checkup

The patient's skin condition is checked to determine the area and amount to be injected. At this point, we may also take pictures of the area to be injected, if necessary.

Preparation before treatment

The injection site is cleaned and a local anesthetic cream is applied as needed. This is to alleviate discomfort caused by the injection.

(4) Injection

Hyaluronic acid is injected into pre-determined areas. A fine needle is used, and the procedure is completed in a few minutes to a few dozen minutes.

(5) Adjustment after treatment

After the procedure, a light massage is performed to ensure even distribution. A cooling pad may then be applied.

6) Post-treatment care

Patients will be provided with thorough advice on post-treatment care. This includes avoiding the injection site for a certain period of time and refraining from exercise for a while, as appropriate to the patient's situation.

(7) Follow-up

The patient will come back to our clinic in a few days or weeks to check the results of the treatment and perform a final check for any problems. This is to ensure that the results are correct and to provide further treatment if necessary.
