Lip lift (shortening of the human midsection)

What is a midline shortening (lip lift)?

Lip lift is for those who feel that their upper lip and the area under the nose (this area is called "jinchu") are too long.

This surgery is also performed to improve the drooping of the face with age, making the mouth look older.

List of concerns

  • Troubled by long face and aged image
  • I want to improve my flat face.
  • It bothers me that it makes the bridge of my nose look longer.
  • I want to plump up my lips.

Characteristics of Midline Shortening (Lip Lift)

During the actual surgery, a portion of the skin under the nose is removed and the upper lip is raised. This shortens the midsection and improves the overall balance of the face. It also improves the shape of the upper lip, creating a more youthful, natural-looking smile.

Lip lift is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately one hour. Postoperative swelling and pain vary from person to person, but usually subside within one to two weeks. Postoperative scars will become less noticeable over time if the surgery is performed properly.

Since there are risks involved in surgery, we will first discuss them in detail during the consultation and carefully explain the expected results and possible risks.

Risks and Side Effects

Midline shortening (lip lift) surgery may involve several risks and side effects. Common side effects include swelling, pain, and internal bleeding at the surgical site. These are usually expected to subside within one to two weeks after surgery, but recovery can take a long time, depending on the individual.

The risk of infection also exists. This can occur if postoperative care is inadequate or if postoperative wounds are not properly treated. Therefore, it is important to comply with the indicated aftercare and keep the area clean.

Scars should also be considered. If the surgery is performed properly, scars often become less noticeable over time, but they can still be prominent in some individuals.
