Botox

What is Botox?

Botox treatment is primarily intended for the treatment of wrinkles and muscle contractions and is one of the main products of botulinum toxin (type A), which is produced by the bacterium botulinum. This toxin inhibits muscle contraction by blocking the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings. This action can be used to reduce excessive activity in certain muscles.

Our injectable treatments, Botox and Botulax, do their best to create the "one-of-a-kind" beauty and subtle facial expressions that adult women seek in a natural and natural-looking face.

Types of Botox

Botox is a formulation of botulinum toxin type A. The name is derived from some product names. Botulinum toxin preparations are sold under several different product names, each with different properties.

  • Botox® *including Botox Vista®.
It is the best known formulation produced by Allergan (now AbbVie) and is widely used both cosmetically and medically. This product is what is known as Botox.
  • Botulax®.
Botulax is a botulinum toxin preparation containing the ingredient type A botulinum toxin and was developed by the Korean pharmaceutical company Hugel. It is approved by the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) and its safety is guaranteed in Korea. Botulax is a generic version of Botox manufactured by Allergan, and therefore has the advantage of being less expensive than regular Botox.

Botox Effects

Botox treatments are widely used to reduce wrinkles and excessive muscle contraction, among other purposes.

use effect
Improvement of wrinkles Reduces deep wrinkles and improves skin appearance. Particularly effective for expression wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.
Excessive perspiration control Botox temporarily paralyzes the sweat glands and controls sweat production. It is used to treat hyperhidrosis, especially of the hands, feet, and underarms.

The effects of Botox are temporary and usually last 3-6 months. Because side effects and risks also exist, counseling and thorough communication will be conducted prior to undergoing treatment.

Botox Side Effects

Botulinum toxin injections may rarely cause internal bleeding. This is a phenomenon in which a few millimeters of a compound appear at the injection site, and depending on the individual's constitution, such internal bleeding usually resolves spontaneously within a week or so.

In addition, due to the muscle relaxing properties of botulinum toxin, an inappropriate amount of injection may cause facial expressions to appear stiff or unnatural.

For example, forehead muscles support eye movement, so even if forehead wrinkles are improved by botulinum toxin injections, the eye area may feel narrower and the eyelids may feel heavier.

For this reason, we try to carefully calculate and adjust the appropriate amount of botulinum toxin to be injected, taking into account each patient's individual constitution and condition, and proceed with the treatment.

Flow of treatment

Botox treatments are usually completed in a relatively short time (usually 10 to 30 minutes). Below is a general Botox treatment procedure flow.

(1) Counseling

First, you will have a thorough communication with our counselors and doctors about the purpose of your treatment and expected results. Here, we will review in detail the patient's health, medical history, and allergies, and you are encouraged to express any concerns you may have. We will also explain any possible risks or side effects.

(2) Treatment plan

A treatment plan is developed based on the patient's needs and the structure of the area to be treated. This is where we determine the area to be injected and the amount of Botox to be injected.

Preparation

To clean the skin surface, the treatment area is wiped clean with alcohol or another disinfectant. In addition, an anesthetic cream may be applied if necessary. Botox injections generally use a very fine needle, so pain is often minimal. If you have any concerns, please feel free to let us know.

(4) Treatment

It is injected directly into a specific site. The location and amount to be injected depends on the purpose of the treatment and the individual demands of the patient.

5) Aftercare

After the procedure, you can return to your daily activities immediately without any downtime. However, you will be asked to avoid rubbing the injection site, strenuous exercise, and lying down for a certain period of time (usually about 4 hours). This is to prevent Botox from migrating from the injected site to other areas.

⑥Confirmation of treatment

It usually takes two days to two weeks for the effects of Botox to show. At a scheduled follow-up visit after the procedure, the results of the procedure will be checked and additional treatments will be performed as needed.
